- Share any Facetime adventures you have had!
- We're going on a Safari today!!
- Safari is a WEB BROWSER. It is the built-in browser used by most Apple Devices (including your iPad). Other web browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, and there are many others! They are used to 'browse' the web.
- When browsing the web, a SEARCH ENGINE such as GOOGLE will help you to find specific content. Google is the default search engine on most browsers (including Safari on your iPad).
- Let's open Safari and use the search bar at the top to search for different things, such as: an image of a famous landmark, a hotel, a restaurant review, a bus tour, the hours of an Art Gallery, etc.
- How to do a SEARCH in Safari:
- open Safari and touch into the 'web address' or 'search' bar near the top - this will cause the letters in the search bar to turn blueish and your keyboard will open
- start typing your search words - the blueish letters will be replaced by the words you type
- when you are finished typing your search words, press 'Go' or 'Return' on your keyboard
- scroll through your search results and find something that looks interesting - click on it to take you to the website - How to 'Press and Hold' to save an image:
- find an image of something you'd like to save
- touch the image to see the larger version
- press your finger on the image and hold until you are given the option to 'Save Image' - choose this and it will save the image to 'Photos'

- I have made a change to the iPads for Seniors link on my website. Correct the 'shortcut' on our iPads, if necessary.

Day 7 - Wed. October 26, 2016
- Share any apps you have found, added and used! What do you recommend to the rest of us?
- Show the additions I've made to the website below that include instructions for a few of the more complicated processes we've used!
- Show how to 'Add a Keyboard'. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Choose the language you'd like to add.
- To find the newly added Keyboard: Open Notes (or any other app that uses a keyboard) > touch the screen where you'd like to type > Touch the little Globe on the keyboard beside the numbers key - keep touching it until the keyboard you want shows up
- Send an email, or write a note using this new keyboard!

- Create 'Foodie' Pic Collages!
- Let's try emailing! Set up your email account and send emails to at least one person.

- this will open a new email

- be sure your photo (or Pic Collage) is saved in Photos
- open Photos and find the photo that you wish to send
- near the top right corner, look for the 'Export' symbol (it is a square box with an arrow pointing out the top) - touch this
- this will give you several choices of where to export - choose 'Mail'
- this will open up an email window - follow the instructions above to send the email

- Hello! How was Thanksgiving? Share PICS you took!!
- Go to Settings and turn LOCATION SERVICES on.
- Goal for Today: Confirm iTunes account information and add 1 or 2 apps to your own iPad!
- While others are working on iTunes accounts, here is something to try with a partner:
1) Open MAPS.
2) Choose a location in KW and find driving directions to get there from here.
3) Browse all the different maps, and find something interesting to share with the group.

- Use the Williamsburg iPads today and explore Pic Collage.
- Pic Collage is a free app which you can get on your own iPad by going to the App Store. You may wish to try to do this at home this week, or Susan will help you next week. Please try to bring your iTunes password if you can locate it!

1) take a variety of pictures on your iPad of things you like - people, flowers, birds, books, etc. etc.
2) bring your iTunes account information (you need this in order to access the App Store - this includes the email you used to set it up and your password (We will be adding a new app to our iPads and using it to create Photo Collages!) - Let's look at Notes

- Welcome Back! Reintroduce each other! What iPad adventures have you had since we last met?
- Review How to Access Wifi. Discuss which apps require wifi access and which do not.
- Open Safari (uses wifi). Go to Susan's website - add a link to personal iPads.
- Show how to reorganize apps on the screens. (Press and hold on an app until they all vibrate, then touch and drag an app you'd like to move to a new location. Touch the home button when you are finished.)
- Open Camera (does not need wifi). Take a few photos, trying the 'zoom' and 'selfie' options.
- Open Photos. Begin to explore some of the options for editing: Delete and Edit (rotate and crop).
- How to crop an image in Photos (at your request!!):
- open Photos and select a photo that needs to be cropped
- touch 'Edit' in the top right corner
- you will see 5 editing tools appear - the 'Crop and Rotate' tool is the second one
- once you touch the Crop tool, you will notice that there are little 'handles' on each of the 4 corners of the photo - when you touch and drag one of these, it will allow you to crop out any content around the edges that you don't want
- you can continue to crop and rotate until the image looks the way you'd like - then touch DONE. - If time, explore Maps.
- Take a few photos at home this week - maybe some lovely fall colours?? It will be good practice!

- Make a Slideshow of a Trip!
- some things to include: a map or maps, pictures of sights, a menu from a restaurant, an itinerary from a museum or gallery, etc. etc.
- save your maps and images to PHOTOS either by using 'Press and Hold' to save, or a screen capture
- order your images
- create a slideshow - instructions below! - How to Create a Slideshow in Photos:
- open Photos and make sure you have selected 'Albums' and are looking at 'Camera Roll'
- touch 'Slideshow' in the top right corner
- touch the photos you wish to include in your slideshow (they will have a blue check mark on them)
- choose 'Add To' in the top left corner
- choose 'New Album' at the bottom
- give your album a name
- now, go back to your list of Albums and choose your new album
- choose 'Slideshow' in the top left
- once your slideshow is playing, you can touch the screen to show 'Options' in the bottom right corner - this is where you can change the theme, music, the timing and pace. Have fun!

- We had a small group today and chose to learn how to send email, with and without images. Instructions are below.

- Let's do PIC COLLAGE projects on your own iPad today! You may use images you have taken with your iPad camera or images from the internet.
- How to use 'Screen Capture' to save images from the internet:
- open Safari
- in the Search bar at the top, type in what you'd like to search for (food, places, flowers, etc.) - touch GO on keyboard
- when the results appear, touch IMAGES near the top
- browse the images and find one you like - touch it to enlarge - 'spread' fingers on image to enlarge to fill the screen (you may have to rotate screen)
- do a Screen Capture (hold Reset and Home Buttons at exactly the same time, then release) - this saves the image to your Photos - How to crop an image in Photos (at your request!!):
- open Photos and select a photo that needs to be cropped
- touch 'Edit' in the top right corner

- While you are doing this, Susan will work with you to make sure your Apple ID is working and help you add Pic Collage to your own iPad for more fun at home!

- Log in to or Set up your email on your iPad (the blue letters are a link - click on them for instructions)
